What has not being pressured got to do with handling the ball??? If someone is passing the ball around the back and not being pressured and they decide to pick it up it is still a hand ball. I know the example is different but that specific point is stupid logic.
That’s like saying the handball rule when Leipzig played Bayern shouldn’t have counted. (Context: Olmo I believe puts the ball on the throw in line, to a point where it’s on the outer part of the line but still on the line meaning it’s in play. Bayern defender went to pick the ball up thinking it was out but it wasn’t and therefore a free kick was given to Leipzig) Whether they know the rule or not, saw it or heard it does not matter the rules are the rules.
This reminds me of the van Persie decision at Camp Nou when Arsenal were ahead in the tie. The referee made the right call. If the player did not hear the whistle, he should not be punished. The referee made two mistakes: not sending Kane off and not giving Arsenal a penalty. Both I would argue are the faults of VAR and not the on-field referee. The on-field referee had an amazing game imo
Ahh 21 out of the 22 players have heard the whistle but because the one player hasn’t heard it we can bend the rules for them, most idiotic take ever! What’s the point in a rule book if you’re not going to stick to it?
